Lily, Don’t Hold Back

Release date: Aug 28, 2026

Genre: Country

Label: Cloverdale Records

On Aug. 28, 2026, Patrick Armould released his new single Lily, Don’t Hold Back, which he describes as “a song about making bad decisions when you’re falling in love.” The single arrived just after his 25th birthday.

The song tells a whole short love story in a few scenes. It starts with Lily’s “tangled up pretty little words,” then immediately tells us she was his first. A few lines later, they’re closing taverns on Christmas Eve, she’s annoyed about getting her ID checked, and Patrick slips in one of the most telling lines in the song: “you would bleed just for once to be seen.” By the chorus, they’re already deep into the part of the relationship where neither person is really holding back — “drown to the finish,” “eyes wide shut,” pushing everything until it hits the limit. Then suddenly it’s over, and the image changes completely: waking up, a mile from the station, walking home, knowing you still haven’t moved on. It goes from attraction to bad decisions to aftermath without needing to explain every step.

Musically, it sits much closer to indie country than traditional country. Patrick’s country accent is very present, but the actual vocal delivery is bigger and more pop-shaped, with a rasp that gets more noticeable when he pushes into the chorus. The full band and drums widen the song there too, so the chorus actually sounds like the point where this relationship gets out of hand. That combination works especially well with the writing: the verses give you the memories, and the chorus gives you the behavior that ruined them.
