acloudyskye released his sixth album, In a while this will all be gone, on July 3, 2026. The album is built on indie-rock songwriting, but it follows the production logic of electronic music and uses post-rock dynamics to release emotions. There is more good news for his Chinese fans: Guangzhou electronic music event Rabbit Jump has announced him as part of its 2026 lineup. He will come to China for a debut DJ set, giving local fans another chance to see him perform in person.

Ila’s omen feels like a brief return to an earlier side of acloudyskye. After the opening impact, the track turns into a calmer pace. Its heavy low end gathers like a storm, echoing the weather surrounding the figure on the album cover. However, the track remains warm and bright, making it an inviting introduction to the album.

Algae is one of my personal picks. It captures indie rock at its most emotionally direct. The song reminds me of watching a Japanese anime, when all you seem to have is youth and a fierce sense of conviction. Maybe leaving isn’t what you want, but at some point you still have to get out.

Down the drain opens with a compact guitar riff that catches audience’s ear immediately, whether you usually listen to emo, indie rock or electronic music. The chorus is marked by its heavily distorted sound. The arrangement is relatively simple, but it carries plenty of emotional pressure. After the midpoint, the drum programming shifts subtly, revealing more of the track’s electronic foundation and allowing the rhythmic transition to feel smooth.

Surf/Ichor is my top pick from the album. The entire track feels blurred at the edges, feel like in a haze. The vocals are filtered, while the guitar carries a infected texture. As the verse begins, the distorted guitar becomes even more mournful. It sounds like a cry. The final eruption goes even further: walls of sound arrive, driving the emotion towards its highest point. It feels likea howl, before finally collapsing into one last sigh. The mix is especially impressive. Even when the arrangement reaches its densest point, every layer remains clear.

Ache has a beautiful melody that reminds me of San Holo’s music. It feels quiet and open, with a spacious atmosphere. Following the mournful mood of Surf/Ichor, the song brings in something warmer and more hopeful. Small electronic crackles move softly through the background, creating a warm, long and slightly blurred soundscape. The lyrics feel honest, while Skye’s vocal delivery carries subtle changes in tone that make the emotion feel even more personal.

Tomorrow/Fish storm feels like a ten-minute slow-burn film, and it is also one of my personal picks. It is the album’s highest-rated and most expansive track. Piano, guitar and woodwinds gradually enter the arrangement, along with African vocal traditions. After a long build-up, however, he does not move straight into the drop. The music suddenly falls quiet, creating a strong sense of emotional distance and suspense. Just when you think the energy has disappeared, the song pushes you sharply into the final drop.

Across the album, acloudyskye lets every buried emotion rise slowly until it almost spills over.
