Jordan Frye has really been cooking with daydreaming, and now he has returned with a summer deluxe, adding new tracks, previously released singles, and live versions. Among all the new additions, “summerdaze” fits exactly the feeling at the start of August: summer is still here, and a hint of how summer already starts slowly slipping away.

Musically, the song stays light, hazy, and incredibly compact. The melody moves with the ease of a memory suddenly returning, while the repeated “I can’t forget you” becomes more restless each time. The chorus is simple and catchy. Those few lines already capture the strange point where the season may be ending, while everything that happened during it remains stuck in your head.

The ending circles back to “Saw your face the other day,” bringing the song right back to where the memory began. At just over two minutes, “summerdaze” disappears quickly, almost like the summer days Frye is trying so hard to hold onto.
