Whats_UPPP

Release Date: July 24, 2026

Genre: Hyperpop/Plunderphonics/Breakcore

Label: Independent

marshall4 released her new song “Whats_UPPP” on July 24, 2026. It is the second single from the deluxe edition of xoxo.zip, released through her own label, FUCK JENNY.

She first released the EP xoxo.zip in September 2025. Every track was given a title that looked like a computer file, including “blur_/notears_,” and “D4ggeR_FLiP_+starflye__.” “Whats_UPPP” continues this naming style, which has become part of marshall4’s own visual and musical language. The deluxe project centers on queer female desire: the impulse to hook up, the excitement of meeting someone new, and the desire to get closer.

Dariacore is often considered a subgenre of hyperpop. “Whats_UPPP” carries the overloaded editing and rough digital textures of her dariacore roots. However, its original vocals and continuous emotional arc bring it closer to maximalist hyperpop.

The song begins with immediate energy, almost like the opening of a new conversation. The electronic textures sound bright and glittering, matching the excitement of finally finding someone she is genuinely interested in. As the song continues, the lyrics become denser and more urgent. The excitement gradually turns into anxiety and uncertainty about where the relationship is going.

The drop arrives suddenly, and the emotion becomes overwhelming. More vocal layers enter, while the distortion and production grow thicker and more crowded. It sounds as though all the feelings she has been holding back are released at once.

Near the end, the drums and most of the high frequencies almost disappear. What remains is a vague, distant voice that sounds like, “marshall, what’s up? We gotta make up.” The song never gives us a clear conclusion, leaving the relationship unresolved like an open ending.
