On Jun. 24, Nashville-based folk/pop trio The Arcadian Wild released their new single Spinnin’, from their upcoming album Make It Out Alive, out Aug. 14.
This song sounds like that part of winter when you are already tired of being patient. The song is dreamy and calm, with a quiet kind of hope running through it. It does not rush toward a big emotional moment. It just keeps moving in circles, the way healing usually does.
The folk and bluegrass side of the band is still very present here. The mandolin gives the song its pulse, and the strings add this soft lift around the vocal. Their harmonies make everything feel close and warm, almost like three people trying to carry the same thought together.
There is sadness in the song, especially in the way it talks about waiting for things to change. Still, Spinnin’ never feels heavy for the sake of being heavy. It has a gentle brightness to it, like the band is holding onto hope with both hands, even when the season has not turned yet.
