On May 21, 2026, after Rock Music, Charli XCX released SS26 as the second single from her upcoming album Music, Fashion, Film. The song looks at a world falling apart, where everyone is still walking the runway straight to hell.
The production is crisp and cold, which fits the whole fashion-apocalypse idea. It almost feels like it belongs somewhere near The Devil Wears Prada, just darker and more doomed. The concept is super strong, but the song itself does not really go deep.
That is the part that feels a little less Charli. Her songs usually know how to turn an idea into a full experience. Even when they are messy, they still move somewhere. SS26 is catchy, and definitely better held together than Rock Music, but it keeps waiting for a bigger moment that never really happens.
For something this rock-leaning, it feels like it wants to explode, especially in the first minute. Instead, it stays sharp but a little flat. Nevertheless, it doesn’t disqualify her artistry and it is still a solid and clear pop track. It is a strong moodboard that maps out the new album.
