Emerging r&b and pop artist Himang independently released his new single, Jejudo on September 18. This song comes as a lead up to his new project coming in 2027.

Raised in Beijing and based in Boston, Indian and Korean artist Himang brings a wide variety of influences into his music, rooted in his experiences. Jejudo talks about his time in the track’s Korean namesake island, and perfectly encapsulates its vibe. Just like the volcanic tropical island, the track is breezy, feels like summer sun, and smells of salt air.

The track begins with distance voices over crisp percussion, with a riser bringing in the most infectious bass line. The keys playing throughout the song are absolutely swanky, and work well with the synth, and the track is overall reminiscent of some of Mac Miller or Anderson .Paak’s grooviest work. Himang’s performance and lyrics are captivatingly fun and catchy, and the insane amount of doubles, ad libs, and harmonies really are the cherry on top, and at points his vocal runs remind me of FLO. The two modulations and rap verses throughout the song also add a really enjoyable sense of progression, and all of these finishing touches really add lots of replay value.

Himang perfectly translates the energy and joy of the music into how he interacts with his fans. He hosted an Instagram live the night of the release, and showed his original lyrics and presented the dance moves in the visualizer as the song debuted, and joining it gave me a really cool insight into the process of the song’s development, how he came up with the choreography, and even the making of the visualizer.
