Holly Hebe might have dropped the EP of the summer, and so far, “Nineteen” is easily my favorite highlight. The production is seriously on fire. Everything sounds so crisp, clean, and perfectly placed without losing any of the emotion.

The song looks back on a relationship that ended badly and the uncomfortable realization that she lost part of herself while she was in it. Hebe described writing it after one of those huge, life-altering heartbreaks, when her main way of coping was pretending the relationship had never happened at all.

That “what if it ended after the first date?” idea hurts because it is such a real post-breakup thought. “Nineteen” sits in all those alternate versions of the past while slowly recognizing what the relationship actually took from her. It is sad, reflective, and ridiculously well-produced.
