Atlanta songwriter Cece Benz released her new single “Little Things” on July 17. The indie-pop track leans into a softer folk-pop sound, with subtle harmonies and a laid-back arrangement that never becomes too busy. Everything stays really balanced, leaving plenty of room for the lyrics.

The song uses a bed as this slightly abstract space where all the things she has ignored, hidden or taken back slowly begin to pile up. It could be about a partner, but it also sounds like Benz is looking at her relationship with herself and realizing how much space she has given away. One little thing becomes another until there is barely any room left for her. Making her own bed still hurts, and it may feel empty afterward, but at least she finally fits in it again.
