Maeve Zamuner’s Acrobat is a painful one.
Released on July 3, the song is about loving someone who gives you just enough to keep you there, but not enough to make you feel secure. The title works so well because the whole song is about effort: balancing, stretching, trying not to fall, and pretending you are fine with it.
What I like most is that the song does not romanticize that kind of love. Being loved halfway is not mysterious or beautiful. It is confusing, tiring, and honestly kind of embarrassing when you realize how much you adjusted yourself for someone who never really showed up.
Acrobat is soft, direct, and hurts because it tells the truth without making it too complicated.
