On June 12, Olivia Rodrigo released her third album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. Before the album came out, she performed begged on Saturday Night Live, and honestly, I still cannot let this one go.

It has this soft rock, Fleetwood Mac-adjacent heartbreak feeling without sounding like a costume. The harmonies are pretty, the writing is clever, and the whole thing hurts in a very specific way. It is not dramatic just to be dramatic. It feels like the quiet humiliation of wanting someone more than they want you.

Olivia is still so a young singer songwriter, but the sound here feels really sophisticated. She knows how to make a song feel classic without sanding down the messiness. Soft rock queen behavior, truly.

I am going to dive into the album now, but my only complaint so far: I wish this song were longer.
